Cultivate the opposite
March 2025
In yoga, balance isn’t just physical—it’s also mental. The poses/asanas challenge our strength, coordination, and trust in ourselves.
Just like in life, we sometimes lean too far one way, and it takes awareness to realign.
But once we find that awareness, we can begin to shift our mindset in a practice called Pratipaksha Bhavana. When negative thoughts arise—“I’ll never get this,” “I’m not strong enough”—we replace them with their opposite: “I am learning,” “I am capable.”
This practice on the mat mirrors how we navigate life off the mat, choosing balance over doubt, empowerment over fear.
Next time you play with a twist, a balance, or sitting in stillness, notice your thoughts.
If frustration creeps in, meet it with patience.
If doubt arises, breathe in confidence.
If you feel resistance, surrender.
This is your power to choose what you cultivate. Remember strength isn’t just in the body—it’s in the mind. So keep practicing!
With gratitude and peace,
