Fear

October 2024

Halloween spirit seems to explode earlier each year. While some may already be contemplating their costume, this season has me considering my fears.

As I continue my new career path, I fear failure. I fear success.  I fear putting myself out there & looking like a fool.  I fear disappointing others.

But a yoga practice offers many opportunities to come face to face with our deepest fears– whether that’s here on our mat, like facing a challenging pose, or something off our mat altogether.

As we practice and excavate our hardened exterior, we understand that a yoga class offers a safe environment to explore and begin to understand our fears.

Afterall, it is a human emotion that everyone deals with, but left unchecked, it can also get in the way of reaching our full potential.

Take this month to consider if there is a fear that is holding you back.

Can you see it separate from yourself, as something external that can be observed?

Without kindness & self compassion, can you hold it away from you, recognizing fear as an emotion and a natural response to certain situations?

When we yield to our fear, we aren’t giving up & giving in.

We are embracing it, with love, courage, & strength.

Find some gratitude for your fears. They create an intuitive power & inner wisdom that strengthens your foundation & allows you to flourish into your highest potential.

Keep practicing.
